Two days ago year 5/6 made their very own pulleys with scrap materials e.g plastic bottles and containers. Some of the pulleys were very good for example William, Rocco, Calum and Liam. Mrs Cooper said she was going to have a vote who could make the best pulley 1st place would have 15 Dojos, 2nd place would have 10 Dojos and 3rd place would have 5 Dojos. So in 1st place was William, Rocco, Calum and Liam’s group, 2nd place was Ffion and Charlotte and in 3rd place was Thomas James Bevan and Noah.
Making pulleys
This week we made pulleys out of lots of bits and bobs and had to lift materials inside a container using our pulleys. We had to wrap the string around the wheel and tie it to our container. My one wasn’t as successful as others but it still worked really well.
Making a pulley system!
Yesterday me and my peer created a pulley system! We used string, a water bottle and wheels with a groove. We cut two holes in the water bottle and put string through. Next we placed the string on the wheel and tested it! Finally we also wrote a guide on how to make a pulley in our books.
Pulley system
On Wednesday the yr 5/6 class made a pulley system because they have been learning about pulleys, cogs and levers. They split up into groups to make a pulley. They used items from a tray and junk items. They used things like string, wheels, pulley blocks and cups. Some groups consisted of 5 people down to 2. After that we set up a set of instructions to make a pulley system. They also included a list of items you will need to make a pulley system. These included scissors, sello tape/ sticky tape, skewers and other necessary items. They also made a diagram of the pulley system they made.
Oakwood theme park worker

Questions for Mr Stone
Yesterday morning year 5/6 had a visitor who was the owner of Oakwood theme park and asked him some questions about the park. a lot of the answers were very interesting for example ” ‘Speeds ‘ top speed is 62 mph” children with surprised faces said ” That’s very interesting!”

We are all excited!
