Martyn Evans artwork (in art)

In art we looked at the artwork of Martyn Evans who is an artist from Aberdare in the Rhondda Valley. Martyn Evans created artwork based on things in his local area and South Wales. However, they would always be coloured with bright, vibrant and cool colours. Sometimes he even changed the look of the buildings he drew into more wonky things. Then on the following day, we had a go for ourselves at drawing things in our local area and changed them into how Martyn Evans might have drawn them wih lots of vibrant colours. I drew one of St Johns Church in Alltwen (in-between Rhos and Pontardawe).

Our Martyn Evans artwork

The class has done some artwork from a local painter Martyn Evans. First we had to pick a design to copy and sketch it out, then we had to colour it in, but we didn’t colour it in any old way, we coloured it in with OIL PASTELS! It was so much fun. We also had tools which were to help get in to small corners and they helped alot. I was glad I got to draw and colour in a Martyn Evans style picture!

Martin Evans art

Recently our lesson was art and we had to copy Martin Evans drawings in to our art books.  It was fun. There are loads of artists in year five and six! Martin Evans is a fantastic artist. In 1969 he was awarded a PhD from university college and sir Martin has published more than 120 scientific papers. Martin Evans is brilliant. After that we had to use oil pastels to colour our Martin Evans drawings! We all had fun in class!

first aid visit

Today a special visitor came to our school to teach first aid. First the man thought us to wrap a bandage around our partner’s arm. Then we wrapped a bandage on our partner’s head. After that he taught us CPR and we practised it on a dummy and did mouth to mouth. Then he asked has any one choked on something and loads of people said yes (meat balls or sweets. Did we know how to save someone from choking? Some people did and some didn’t, them he taught us how to save someone from choking. Then we got a certificate for doing the first aid and we took a picture.

First aid surprise!

On Monday, 1st April, we had a visitor who tuned out to be a first-aid person came in to help us be more aware about first aid. He taught us how to help someone if we found hem lying on the floor, how to help someone if you thought they were choking and how to treat a highly serious burn and what it does to your skin. However, to start with we learnt how to treat a nasty cut, and how to tie a bandage around it. Finally to finish of, we learnt about the dangers of hitting your head and the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike.

FIRST AID!!!

This morning a man named Del came into our school to our school to teach about First Aid. First he told us to wrap a bandage around our partner’s. Then we pretended to have a head injury and wrapped bandages around our partners. Then we talked about burns, if you have a burn make sure to wrap the affected area in cling film and go straight to A&E. 🏥🚑🚑🚑
